New year, new log.

I think this log should start with definite goals, things I really wonna achieve in 2011. Looking back my best lifts are 270 Squat and 272.5kg Deadlift @ 90kg bodyweight and 230kg Benchpress @ 95kg bodyweight. I can't see any reason why these lifts can't be achieved at my new lower bodyweight, after all I was just fatter!!!

I'll be competing the 83kg class but bodyweight is usually around the 86kg mark.

Current lifts raw - goal
Squat 182.5 - 215
Benchpress 175 - 200
deadlift 230 - 265
In all honesty though in the sport of powerlifting raw lifts count for f**k all, that's not even powerlifting, unequipped lifting is a side show, the main stuffs done in kit. Those goals are there to help progress because we do lift raw a lot of the time. Any how these goals do really matter:

270 squat
230 Benchpress (current stands at 207.5)
272.5 deadlift.
Again the goal is to do it in comp at 83kg. If these goals are for filled before the years out I will be thinking of going up to the 93kg class.

My dream would be to do an international Benchpress comp this year. Do well at British, go squad session, go to Europeans or Worlds, hence the log title.

Thought I'd re-post NYE session as it was a good squat sess and a good one to start my dairy with:

Friday 31st Dec 2010, NYE.

Squats
Bar x many
60 x 5
80 x 5
100 x 5
Knee wraps and belt on...
140 x 5 wrapped loose
160 x 5 a bit tighter
180 x 5 90% tightness
200 x 3 90% tightness

5 rep pb and 3 rep pb. 180kg is my raw max so to do it for 5 in knee wraps has really pleased me.

Benchpress
Bar x many
70 x 8
110 x 5
140 x 3
160 x 2
160 x 2
160 x 2
160 x 2
160 x 2


No handout and no spotter last set filmed.

Supersets of 

Incline dumbbell press 88lbs x one arm rows 95lbs x 5sets x 8reps

Wide chin ups (8 reps) x BW dips (15 reps) x 5

Very quick Kettlebell session before tea.

2 x 12kgs:

• 10 swings, 10 cleans, 10 snatches x 4 sets

• OH squat, 5 reps x 4 sets

• press ups + renegade rows x 12 ( 6 each arm) x 3

1 min between each set

Running @ Astbury mere, Congleton.

2 x 2.75 miles, multi-terrain and surfaces ( 2 very big hills included )

1st lap : 19:40
2nd lap : 20:30

Happy with that. Not been able to run quick because of the freezing temperatures lately. Haven't ran that fast since the autumn Happy

30 x 25m swimming. 

Got out the pool because I was getting bad cramps. Swimming has never felt so hard, run must have been good Happy

As I'm writing this it's now Monday the 3rd the plan is gym session, squats of some description, heavy press and possibly deficit deads. Although my back and legs feel ruined from yesterday's run.

110 x 4, racked it on the 5th rep really bad pain between my shoulder blades

Sacked it off because it wasn't feeling good at all,

Back squat - just to see if I could

Not as bad but worried now.

At this point I'm ready to go home and my old training partner turns up ( home from uni) I said I'll stop to spot him on the bench and do a few sets but wouldn't do much...

Benchpress

110 x 5
Sod it throw the bench shirt on and just do some lockout work
140 x 3 arms bent slightly.
170 x 2 bar about 4.5 inches away 
200 x 1 about 2 inches away
215 x 1 touch and go, hell yes!!!
220 x 1, scrappy but that's a pb at this bodyweight.
205 x 3 to 3 inch

Where did that come from?! I was ready to go home!!! Happy

Weighted dips
Bw + 50kg x 5
+90 x 5
+105 x 2, just failed the 3rd about an inch from lockout.
+105 x 2, dropped setted to
+ 90 x 4, hard set but good grind Happy

finished with some pushdowns and abs

Really pleased with the bench, gutted about the squats and more importantly wanted to do some deficit deads Unhappy 

A few days rest for the back I think and try again. I'm sure it's gonna be fine

Good lifting, do you train at Dave's gym in Northwich? a lad thats a PT at my gym who lifts there says theres some lad called Moz who can bench 230 kg.
